Chair Letter
Honorable chairs, esteemed delegates, respected directors, staff, and guests, this is Hojeong Ra, an LDP member of KISMUN 2025. I am truly honored to participate in KISMUN 2025 as a chair of WHO. It means a lot to me as it is my first time serving as a chair.
Do not try your best, I’m warning you. But instead, try it with all your heart. In MUN, no matter if you are a beginner or an advanced delegate, the first glance of every conference seems unfamiliar and fearful. Every delegate looks professional and confident, while you feel yourself inexperienced and clumsy. I've had this experience in most of the conferences I’ve attended. And every time I felt so, I thought trying my best was the right answer. Sending tons of amendments, always being the main submitter, and making speeches and POIs every single time. But as you might or might not know, even excellent speeches and POIs without your sincerity, are nothing. It’s totally fine if all you can do is just a single POI. What it matters is that you concentrated in the debate to make that try. In other words, the essence of MUN is not about proving yourself, but learning how to express your genuine thoughts.
So if you ever feel lost and nervous during the conference, just give it a try to speak of what you’ve prepared wholeheartedly. And don’t freak out if it didn’t go well. Just remember, wherever your courage leads you, you are always on the right track, even if it's a detour.
With hope for courage,
Hojeong Ra
Deputy Chair of the World Health Organization, KISMUN 2025.
